7 Life Lessons I learnt from the Witcher Book Series

As the @netflix dropped the first teaser of the third chapter of the Witcher series, this is the perfect time to revisit the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski.

I read the book in 2018; since then, it has been one of my favourite fantasy series. It is a different world out there where only the worthy can survive. The thought-provoking themes and the plot twists can hook you up to the last word.

Although I have no complaints against the first season of the Netflix drama, I am quite sceptical about the portrayal of the third season as the books are much more complex later in the book series.

However, I will always love the book series and the things they taught me.  Here are some life lessons that can be learned from the series:

*Prejudice and intolerance only lead to conflict.

The books explore the dangers of discrimination and intolerance, whether it is between different races, genders, or social classes. These prejudices often lead to conflict and violence, and only by understanding and accepting our differences can we hope to live in peace.

*The consequences of our choices.

As the characters are met with difficult choices, they are forced to choose each time, and each decision has consequences that can ripple through the world in unexpected ways. This is a powerful reminder that every choice we make has consequences, and we should always consider the long-term effects of our actions.

*The importance of empathy and compassion.

The Witcher himself, Geralt of Rivia, is often seen as cold and emotionless, but he has a deep sense of empathy and compassion for those he encounters. Through his interactions with others, we see the importance of treating everyone with kindness and understanding.

*Strength comes in many forms.

Characters like Yennefer and Ciri demonstrate that intelligence, cunning, and resilience are just as important as brute strength.

*The dangers of power.

The Witcher series explores the corrupting influence of power and how it can turn even the most well-intentioned individuals into tyrants. This is a reminder that power must always be wielded responsibly and with a sense of humility.

*The value of friendship and loyalty.

The relationships between the characters are often complex and fraught with conflict, but they also demonstrate the power of friendship and loyalty. These bonds can provide strength and support even in the darkest of times.

*The importance of personal growth.

All the characters including Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri undergoe a significant transformation over the course of the series. This is a reminder that we should always strive for personal growth and never stop learning and evolving.
